Awards Dinner and Silent Auction View flyer (pdf) Join Goodwill, The Amity Group for an evening of celebration on March 4, 2009 to honour the accomplishments of our friends and clients when we present the 2009
Awards. We are very pleased to have the Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, to deliver the keynote address at this year’s Outstanding Achievement Awards. His Honour’s experience with polio and post-polio syndrome, his successful career as a broadcaster and appointment as Lieutenant Governor of Ontario have made him an inspiring role model and champion for people living with disabilities. This year’s awards dinner is a tribute to those that have had the courage and determination to take significant steps towards bettering themselves.
For almost 75 years, Goodwill has been in the business of putting people to work. As a not for profit social enterprise organization, Goodwill’s mission is to help people overcome employment and disabilities barriers in Hamilton, Halton and Brant regions. These employment and disabilities barriers can take many forms: lack of work experience, a low salary, a recent layoff or a physical or emotional disability.
Last year, our Goodwill placed 1,036 individuals into the workforce, enhancing their dignity and independence while generating $33M in wages into the communities that we serve.
I hope that you will be able to join us on March 4th as we celebrate these successes with the Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
